Achievement Awards and Medal Exams
Achievement Awards and Medal Exams
We're excited to introduce you to the world of dance Medal Tests and Achievement Awards, an important aspect of your child's dance journey. These evaluations serve as milestones in their dance education, offering recognition for their hard work and progress. Let's delve into what they entail:
What are Medal Tests?
Medal tests are structured examinations designed to assess a dancer's proficiency in various dance styles. They are organized by established dance organizations and follow a structured syllabus. In the context of dance, the term "medal" usually refers to the level of achievement rather than a physical medal.
How will my dancer be evaluated?
These assessments include a combination of technical exercises, choreographed routines, and demonstrations of dance knowledge. They are conducted by certified examiners/adjudicators who evaluate your child's dance skills, posture, musicality, and overall performance. These assessments help dancers set goals, measure progress, and gain valuable feedback to improve their dance abilities.
Where does the exams take place?
The examinations take place during your regular class time and are conducted via video. Participation in medal tests and achievement awards is entirely optional, but we strongly encourage it as a valuable part of your child's dance education. They foster discipline, determination, and a sense of accomplishment.
Is there a fee?
We note there is a small fee associated with each exam, specifically to cover the examiner’s fee as well as the physical awards your child will receive.
What awards will my dancer get?
These awards range from pins, ribbons and badges to medals, trophies and plaques, depending upon the specific exam taken. At Dance Mechanix we typically enter students in Achievement Awards on a quarterly basis (December, March, June) and Medal Tests either bi-annually (January and June) or annually depending upon their preparedness.
We'll keep you informed about upcoming opportunities for your child to participate in these tests and awards, and we're here to answer any questions you may have along the way. Thank you for supporting your child's passion for dance, and we look forward to witnessing their growth and achievements on this exciting journey.
